Through infrared lighting, analysis have revealed that “ Leonardo da Vinci had modified the position of 2 fingers of Mona Lisa’s left hand ” , according to researchers of the Museum Le Louvre.

“ He had not modified those 2 fingers only ”, claims Jean Paul Floch.


“He had also lifted the metacarpus of those 2 fingers. So, it means that probably Mona Lisa had hidden something close to the palm of her left hand. If it had not been so, the left hand could not have stayed tilted while bearing the weight of the right hand.

At this time, it was current for women to wear a thin handkerchief. May be Mona Lisa had just dried some tears…Would that not be a hidden symbol for suffering from a forbidden love, that she would have shared with her painter, through silence ? ”
