26/6/2006 - The notion of concept in contemporary art.

The concept, a feature of what is known as “contemporary” art, is a purely intellectual creation of the artist, without any harmony in the work's reality, since it requires the understanding of codes before being able to understand it and its relationship to the created object. It is reserved to a so-called ELITE inflated with their need for power through intellectual knowledge, yet totally lacking in “intuitional” knowledge.

Here are the thoughts of an Art expert. “The height of ridiculousness was reached with the work of an American, recently exhibited in England. This was a plastic bottle of water set on a stand, supposed to represent the dangers of the planet and this at the incredible price of €63.000! However Art has nothing to do with the arrogance of being able to set exorbitant prices on anything, with the sole intention of making the media talk about it. " This influence starts from a very early age at school.

However, “Contemporary Art” is “the official art” taught in schools. Would we not be wiser to teach all forms of art and leave young people (from an early age) to choose their own path?

In fact, what is called “Contemporary Art” should be called “Conceptual Art”. That would be more exact! “Contemporary Art” does not mean anything. The word “contemporary” refers to the period and not to a style. For example, my works are in a figurative contemporary style, meaning that they come from the present period. One could also say Contemporary Art of Antiquity to refer to Greek or Roman art, or even describe Michael Angelo as a contemporary artist of the Renaissance period, etc.
