French Resistance : Jean Moulin (1899-1943)
Jean Moulin, head of the French Resistance, though tortured, did not divulge any secret. He sacrificed himself for safety of community, thanks to his nobleness and dignity qualities.
The artist has made a positive statue, a model for identification
His waistcoat emphasizes his natural elegance, and his voluntary mouth conveys a resolute character.
His great compassion is expressed by his head posture naturally bending towards the other.
A deep sadness appears in his way of looking, on the right side of his face, while he sees savagery sights. His left eye, widely opened, shows hope which animated him, expressing the faith he had in his own sense of justice.
His right hand, the one which gives, is adjusting his scarf because of the cold wind (he was sensitive to cold). In fact, his hand is set upon his heart which he offers to France.
Jean Moulin gave his life for Liberty and Peace. He elevated himself up to sacrifice through his qualities, those of a real leader.
His memory is, indeed, immortal.
This sculpture has been registered May 25th 2003 for the competition “Jean Moulin” at Beziers and Caluire/cuire cities. (South of France. This sculpture is the original work made in plaster.
